Our School
About
At T. J. Connor Elementary School, we believe that each child can learn and succeed. To this end, we teach an engaging and rigorous curriculum tailored to individual needs. The faculty and staff at T. J. Connor work to promote the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of each child.
Our small school setting, with its safe and supportive environment, creates a culture where students become motivated learners who strive to improve and excel. Our school community is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion by creating an environment where all voices are heard and valued and each student gets what he or she needs to succeed.
These are the three core tenets or beliefs that we hold for every student and employee:
- Work hard
- Be kind
- Treat others with respect
T. J. Connor Elementary School is named for Thomas Joseph Connor in honor of his dedication to the students and families of Wheatland-Chili Central School District. Connor began working for the District as a history and Latin teacher in 1921. He became school principal in 1929 and was eventually promoted to district principal (now referred to as superintendent). Connor retired in May of 1962 after more than 40 years of service to the District.
